Perhaps I missed it but… Is it enough to get an .edu email to get a 25% off?

Hi there,
Maddie here from 3D Hubs. You can register as a student by entering your student email address on this page: Student innovation grant 2020 | Hubs
I hope this helps!

Well, that was my point. Is the .edu the ONLY requirement to get a 25% off?
yes.
unfortunately, that’s not the only drawback, students are allowed to submit any print they want printed, whether it’s private or school related. the 25 percent discount does not come from 3d hubs, it is directly substracted from your asking price, so the hubs are paying for the 25 percent.
I’m not a big fan and I’ve removed it. I’ve seen a lot of people, even after graduation, that retained the 25 percent and were printing a bunch of private projects with it… it even went as far as someone who was now working at a company and used his student discount on a very large commercial order…
Im assuming then its pointless to let the students discount enabled anymore. I myself was able to obtain an .edu with 2 clicks and i’m already 42 and full time employee…
bleh!
@en3DStudios_com it’s not enough to have an email account.edu. You need an account from an existing university. For example, I tried to create a student account using a fake email address (pippo@marco.edu) and, I incurred in the following error message.
As far as I know, if your university it’s not listed, you have to fill a form and then 3D Hubs will verify the University really exists. In any case, I’m sure the support team will be able to provide you with more specific information!

I never said I created a fake address. Indeed there are universities that let you create .edu emails by just filling some forms (even with fake info).
That being said, renders the “student discount” pretty much useless IMHO.
I didn’t say you create one but, for my personal curiosity, I did it and it didn’t work. In any case, I completely understand the problem you’ve flagged. Try to get in touch with 3D Hubs support to ask for clarifications
