I’ve been printing with my Prusa Mendel v2 for several years and am now wanting to get a hub set up but haven’t passed a good Marvin yet. I think I’m close as you can see in the attached pics. I’m using Slic3r and have attached all the settings in an attached PDF. I’ve already tried various speeds and temps but I haven’t seemed to be able to dial everything in yet.
I’m printing with ABS.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated!

I’d say your speed and temps are good, otherwise the loop on top would fail, but you’ve maybe got a problem with your z-axis being a bit inconsistent. What kind of screws are you using?
I’ve got M8 rods for my Z-axis. I switched them from 5/8 a while back and also changed my firmware at that time to account for the change in step calculations.
I thought that might be it, M8 screws work but aren’t designed for this use. Trapezoidal/ACME screws will give you much more consistent layers and are pretty cheap from china these days. Use an 8mm screw and you won’t need to change your coupling. Also check your Z axis bearings for any binding that might stop your Y axis moving all the way up during a layer change.
Thanks for the info on the Trapezoidal/ACME screws! I’ll look into those.
When you say “…check your Z axis bearings for any binding that might stop your Y axis moving all the way up during a layer change”, did you mean to say to check that it might stop my “Z” axis from moving all the way up? If so, that would make sense to check…otherwise, you confused me.
Yes, I meant Z axis. Sorry about that. The best way would be to disconnect the axis from the screws to see if it moves freely, but it’s a pain to do. If you do change screws you could check it then. Looking at your printer I think you could probably fit brass lead screw nuts into your existing Z axis carriers.
