Flashforge Finder stopping during build

our Flashforge finder has started stopping during builds, I’ve tried printing from SD vs USB, but still does it. Any ideas?

Does it give a gcode error or something like file error? Does the percentage till done show its about to be completed before it stops?

Hey Tracy,

I think that first you should start your investigation by checking the filament spools. Sometimes I find out that the filament on the spools get tangled and that did happened more than once with the same filament. Another possibility would be that the filament gets stucked in the extruder. This might happen because of several reasons. I recommend you to run some test prints from the SD card that FF provdes with the printer just to rule out any slicer software wrong parameters. If it stops again, maybe you should check with FF support. People seems to be happy with them.

Have you tried multiple files? I’ve found that my flashforge will stop without an error if there is an issue with GCode. If you have tried multiple files make sure that you’re printer isn’t hitting any limits and that your heat is not too high. Mistakenly making the bed temp 200° C is a sure fire way to cause the printer to stop.

Thanks. The filament isn’t getting tangled, Ive had that happen before but that’s not what’s going on now. I am doing a print now with a different spool just to see if it’s filament related. Thanks!

So I updated firmware, am using a different spool and trying again. If it works, I’ll try the original spool and see if it was the filament or updtate. If it doesn’t work, I’ll keep investigating.

I had that error intermittently on my Flashforge dreamer and its really annoying especially on long prints. I think it is a firmware issue as i haven’t seen it happen lately since the firmware was updated. Before the firmware update I would just make sure the file has a new name as to not interfere with any other files i have tried to print in the past.

Also, I calculate the time it’s taken per 1% of print progress to see if it matches the estimated print time. I use this to predict if the file will file, rather than wait for it to fail. It has saved me countless failed prints. After finding out the file is gonna fail i just make a new gcode with a new file name and try again. New/updated firmware should clear the issue however.

My FFCP stops mid print while printing from SD if I start or start my computer when the USB is still connected.

Is it like STOP or just pause?, i had only one problem with a print that occupy almost all area (14cmx14cm) multiple parts LCD says “file error” maybe was tangled spool because i just unroll more filament and then was fine. Try leveling the bed again sometimes filament get stuck if the bed is raised a little bit. if not make sure you are using the latest FF software and try another configuration for the g code.

Hello,
I found my FlashForge Creator Pro as printing from USB tended to hang. When Windows is internal operations, the order transmission to the printer delay the process plant.
It is best to copy the file from the SD card and then put the SD card into the printer and start printing from the SD card.

I have this same printer and I found you ABSOLUTELY MUST disconnect it from the USB after beginning the build or it shuts off. It has myriad other quirks messing with my print quality, but I wonder if these are primarily connected to beginner mistakes I made. My printer often shuts off if I leave it connected to the computer via USB during the print. The best I can figure is that it is sending additional signals that interfere with the printer and interrupt the print. If yours is shutting off when it’s not connected, I would suspect some other power problems with the unit. It could be defective or possibly check to see if you are overloading a circuit.

I now know this printer much better, and recent firmware updates even add an image to the saved file in the unit, visible on the lcd! It’s a great printer once bed leveling is set and you figure out how to avoid clogs or clear them without having to take it apart. The one thing that still bugs me is the printer shuts off if it is still connected to the PC after sending the file. It prints from internal memory or flash memory just fine, so when I restart the print going from the now preloaded file almost guarantees success.
