Let’s get to the point, I recently received and order of PVA filament from BuMat and was using with PLA to print something. Anyhow, my printer heats up the PVA filament to 240 degrees Celcius. Is that an appropriate temperature for PVA??
While printing, the PVA oozes out, and about 40% of the time, it gets really crumb-ly. Like it looks like, feels like, crumbs. I know that’s not normal. But how do I fix it? Is it the temperature?
Okay so I go to cancel the build because it’s turning out so crappy, but as the build plate lowers, it starts jerking up and down for like 3 seconds. The first time, I thought it was going to break. It’s very serious, I think, and I have a suspicion that it’s because of wiring… but I never touched the wiring on the printer.
I’ve problems before, but not like this.

Hey bobinstein,
Your temperature is far to high as it should be between the region of 160-175 degrees Celsius. Such a high temperature like this will be causing it to crumble as it cannot handle the heat. The jerking build plate could mean a few things. It could be a technical glitch or even a faulty wire/ motor. I could however be the axis that it makes on to lower. This may have something stuck in it causing it to jump around. Just check the axis to ensure everything is fine.

Thanks a lot, I’m going to try to find a way to fix the axis, or find something about some of the internal wiring.

Ok, been a while, I know, and I fixed the build plate issue. It was getting caught in the side of the roll of filament. Kind of a dumb mistake.
I lowered the temperature on the PVA extruder, but… it’s clogged, probably from when it was at 200 degrees Celcius.
So, I have to unclog that basically…
I guess once I do that, my problems are solved? Lol
