Hello,
I just replaced both nozzles and hot ends on my 2015 FFCP and try as I must the left or right nozzles wont be perfectly leveled and even. What is the easiest way for me to make both even?
The FFCP is a clone of the Makerbot Replicator 2X isn’t it? if so, you can print this object http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:127297 to align both extruder nozzles… I don’t own a FFCP but I do own a Makerbot Replicator 2X and it works like a charm!
Hi,
Use shims, under the extruder block when installing. Cut and fold a little piece of tinfoil and place it under the block , left or right which ever is lower before bolting it down then try leveling again. Fold it more times to get the right level. Hope this helps.
The easiest way to do it is loosen one of the hot end set screws. They are in the aluminum bar that the nozzle/hotend assembly slides into. Once you have one loose, level the bed to the nozzle thats still tight. Keep it in the leveling mode so the z axis maintains position. Then, lower the loose hot end to the bed and whatever you used to level the nozzle. I usally use a full sheet of flat uncreased printer paper. Then adjust the nozzle to that. You might have If the nozzle is stuck you might have to take it off the printer to get it out. If one is stuck try the other side first, they can ne really tight.
3dprintwiz is correct. I use a bit of cut up silicon baking mat (Amazon Basics) under each side. It’s elastic enough to hold everything steady even when once side is compressed more than the other. That lets me adjust by merely tightening or loosening the carriage screws.
Hey, I recently had this issue and found the best way to level my extruders. There are basically 2 steps. 1. Level the hotend/nozzle attachment to the aluminum block using calipers. Measure from the tip of the nozzle to the top flat surface of the aluminum block making sure to leave room for the top of the hotend to just touch the plastic on the extruder or just below it. Try your best to make sure both nozzles are level to the thousandths. Do this by making sure that you are contacting the same points on each side. 2. Level the block to the carriage. Attach the extruder/hotend assembly to the carriage and tighten the bolts as you would normally. Use the slicer to home the nozzles, then move the nozzles over the middle of the bed. If your platform is level this will be easier. If not level it the best you can. Doing this will allow you to use a piece of paper to find out which nozzle is higer or lower from the bed. When you figure that out, remove the hotend from the carriage and use small strips of kapton tape around the threaded hole on the aluminum block where it mounts to the carriage. Make sure that you have the same ammount of layers on both sides of the hole and apply 5-6 layers. Reattach the extruder and check that the nozzle is raised. Add or remove layers until its perfect.
