Have you tried the mozaic case as well? I can’t seem to get the upper edge right, see my previous post: Talk Manufacturing | Hubs.

@James_2 and @ProdPoint had some very good comments. However, in your pics the cases seem to be flawless nontheless.

I just spent about 20 minutes typing an answer to your question and everything is gone !!!

I’l try again but now I type the message in an editor !

I use filament from a couple of suppliers and as a matter of fact I bought most of it at the end of last year. I am still using most of i t and it is not bad, only that from iGo3D is no good.

The light blue filament I used for the case came, I think from 123Inkt.nl, and it is very good. Maybe because I opened the seal just before printing so it hasn’t had the chance to pick up moist. I think this was the best case I printed so far! (10 until now)

Nowadays I get most of my filament from Makerpoint of whom I buy their own brand which is quite good.

Below are the settings I use in Cura (14.07) to print the FairPhone cases on UM2.

I have some problems to print fairphone case day 1 with my Ultimaker Original in PLA Ultimate-Blue. I will try to put your pressets but i have a litle question. With this color, Ultimate Blue, do you print with 210 of temperature?

Hi Raphaël,

it is not Ultimaker Blue! I bought the PLA from 123Inkt.nl last december.

To be honest, my experience with Ultimaker Blue isn’t that great; I don’t get good results and I am still trying to figure out why this is.

And indeed, I print at 210 celcius but on UM2. The temperature is not always the same, even with the same brand of printers!

What problems did you have by the way?

First of all, thank you so much for your quick answer.

The problem is with the printing result, I put the same preset that the fairphone test (same color, PLA ULTIMATE BLUE) but the result is different.

Maybe the problem is the model design because i have the feeling that the Fairphone Desighn Day 1 it´s more strait than fairphone test. I made 3 printing and i change some presets like: more quality layer (0,1mm); print speed more slowly (25mm/s); but the result it´s the same.

I let you two pictures to see the difference.

Do you know any solution?

Hi Raphaël,

could it be that you are extruding to much and that the temperature is al little to high?

You can print the last part by sinking the case into the platform in Cura so you can test the bad spot.

Hi Raphaël,

I mean that maybe the filament is thicker than the slicer thinks? E/g. when the filament is 3mm and the parameter says 2.85 mm there will be more filament extruded than you would want. In the UM2 this is in the material settings on the printer and for UM original it is at the bottom of the basic settings in Cura. In other slicers you can also change this parameter.

Ah okay, i understand what you say. In my case, the diameter parameter is the same as the filament so this cannot be but in any rate thank you for your explanation. When I receive the filament order i wil try to change some parameters and I will show you the result.
