Hi Chris,

First I would like to introduce myself. My name is Maurice Arnold and I am a retired computer programmer. I am also a UK expatriate and am based in a suburb of Melbourne, Australia.

Hardware was never my specialty although I can usually cope with it. The Vector 3 printer seems to be an exception. This is partly because I find the instructions as clear as mud and partly because I am new to 3D printing terminology.

To get down to actual cases, I am having serious problems with the construction of my printer. The three most significant problems at present are with the heater cable replacement which came with issue 70, the printer head and the printer hood.

I will quickly summarize these below:

1) I find the instructions unclear about the installation of the new heater and am not sure what to disconnect from the original heater cable setup.

2) I also find the instructions unclear about how the filament feeds into the printer head and how and where the external pipe comes into play.

3) The assembly of the printer hood has me beaten. I have had screws popping out all over the place and, unless I am much mistaken the holes in the clear panels do not align the way they should with the corresponding holes in the frame. If they did I am sure I would not have had any problems with the screws. I especially cannot see how to secure the plastic parts which hold the two halves of the hood together. After trying for many hours I have decided to give up and seek help.

Can you help me with these matters please? I have some thoughts about point 3 and am wondering if a pre-assembled hood would be the easiest way to solve the problem. Is such a thing available and, if so, how much would it cost me?
