Does anyone know of a good service locally (Seattle) or a decent scanner I could buy to get a 3d model of my face? I need it to be quite accurate because it will be used for medical purposes.

That looks like it would be good enough for my purposes. I need to get more information from my doctor in a few days, but I’ll contact you when I do.

Hello Austin, we just opened a Full body 3D scanning company here ins Seattle and I was planning to do some face scanning as well.

Let me know of the details of your scan and I may be able to help you.

Hey Leo, thats great news. I’m still waiting on more info from my doctor - I’ll get in touch with you when I’m ready.

If you draw lines on your face with makeup, and use a DSLR camera, 123d catch ( a free program by autodesk), you can get very good accurate models from the photos. The attached image is a scan of myself, but I lowered the resolution very much after the scan. I use a similar process, but through a better (paid) program called agisoft photoscan. Results are great, I’d recommend trying it prior to paying anyone.

Wow, that’s a really impressive scan! I’ve heard many people struggling with this app, but this is such high quality result. If you want to share some tips/ methods, please feel free to do so in a separate thread.

@derKarsten did a intro series for 3D Scanning - How to get started & the technologies involved -, and it would be nice to see some practical examples on using varying apps. Let me know!
