My setup (Da vinci 1.0a + request tutorial videos - YouTube I am no 3D printing expert. I have 3000 hours all up printed with my xyz printers. I am however willing to offer in depth videos or even put in the time to research solutions to problems. I am also going to be making designs and uploading stuff on thingiverse, this happens to be my first. Medieval Guillotine by WillPio - Thingiverse 1. I also do have my ideas and solutions to offer. Kind regards, William
One video I would appreciate is how to clean the extruders. The XYZ video for this suggests cutting zip ties and disconnecting cables which is so silly because they have the gear oriented to the rear of the machine making access very difficult. If you have tips and tricks on that, I would love to see it. I have a Da Vinci 2.0A.
Hello, Ill try to have it done within a week. I do remember having an issue getting the extruder out. Ill try again and then find a good way of pulling it all apart.
That video is to remove the extruder. If you’re simply trying to clean it then unload the filament, run the cleaning program, use the wire brush to clean off the exterior then use the small needle like wire to clean the interior. Make sure that you push it in and pull it out quickly. You will notice material coming out of the nozzle. Stop and clear the excess material then repay until you no longer have material coming out of the nozzle.
It’s not the nozzle that needs cleaning, it’s the extruder gear. There is so much ABS dust in there that at speed the extruder just strips the filament. As with all my other printers, the procedure is to take a brush and clean the dust out. However, because the gear is pointing towards the rear and is not directly reachable, I would have to remove the extruder itself to do the cleaning. On one of my older printers, I would blast air into the area where the gear is and that would suffice, but I can’t even get to that with an air can straw…so the extruder has to be removed.
I’m excited to read you have many hours in experience with this machine because I can sure use your help.
I’ve read a lot of forums and viewed many videos and copied many settings for Slic3r and Repetier Host but I can’t get a good print using XYZ’s original Filament.
Would you happen to know a basic set up that will allow me print as good as pre-flash? I just wanted to be able to print well AND use other filament.
I have the Da Vinci 1.0A that is flashed to Repetier 0.92 and I’m running Windows 7, Repetier Host and Slic3r. I am using the original XYZ yellow filament for now to compare qualify between XYZ and my new setup. I did not have any “profiles” for the 1.0A when I installed everything. Maybe this is my problem? My first print after flash resulted in a mess and a machine that was moving to fast and shaking.
1) Software you use to load a model, slice the model and send the print to Da Vinci 1.0A
2) The settings used for the software/slicer, etc.
