is the CubePro trio 3d printer any good ? is it worth the money ? Are the materials expensive ? is it worth buying ? any better printers instead of the Cubepro?
Im very new to 3d printing and just wondering what will be the best printer to get for prototyping parts ?
if you are willing to tinker with the machine it is a decent 3D printer. The most reliable printer we have worked with on the FDM side of things is the MarkForged MarkOne.

Be careful Chris, 3d systems just announced the end of life for this products.
Printers are shit, they are just a Bits from bites( a very old machine from around 2000) with enclosure. And nice details/ “features”
here you can check the note.
2015 has been quite a year for 3D Systems–and, as it happens, the fat lady hasn’t sung yet. As we begin the last week of the year, today 3DS has...

If you are a begginer I recomend a Zortrax, an UP Mini or an Afinia H480 or something similar.
3d systems onthe prosumer market is a Buyer beware.

I would recomend You to check out Form1 from Formlabs, More value for money
Hey Chis,
I think the trio is a great printer, however I would not recommend it as your first printer. It does have 3 material printing capabilities, but it come standard with one, so you have to buy the 2 other extruders to have that upgrade (which you can install your self or pay extra upfront). Its not cheap by any means. It produces a really great quality print (will upload an example, to get an idea of the scale, its life size).
Its great to hear you want to get into the hobby. While the trio might not be a great fit for your first printer, there are certainly many options. I would suggest checking out the Make Magazine’s Printer Guide , its got a lot of great tips and suggestions for getting started.
I hope this helped answer your questions!

Hi from Italy, I have a Cube Pro TRIO I acquired attracted by the new INF support material. The machine looks professional, is very well engineered BUT have many problems. You can use EXPENSIVE INF only with Nylon and PLA, ABS is neglected although I think it is a very good material for many purposes. The proprietary software is not exactly a good one, you can use SIMPLIFY with some artifacts but this one will only work with ABS, PLA NOT with Nylon and INF. Also it is limited to two extruders so far. Maybe my machine was born under a bad star but it never worked properly. I had a lot of problems with extruders, it has been take by the service three times to try to repair, I have receivd a call they will be here again soon. I think it is has a sound mechanics, I printed a figure using Nylon and INF, check the photos attached, it was not a bad result. The support material is quite easy to remove, once the machine is well calibrated I think can work in the right way. They are constantly upgrading the software, now is 1.87 version: it is a signal they have problems. I will not recommend as first printer. My other machine is a LEAPFROG CREATR DUAL, another printer with lots of problems but after two years of extensive usage is giving me some satisfactions. I am now testing IRA3D INFINITY but again I will not recommend yet for a first approach. I have seen that Star Wars BB8 group on FB has published some guidelines for acquiring printers, maybe you can check here, it is a pdf file, I guess.
CubePro is a very good 3d printer. It has three heads, that you can use 3 colours or 2 colours and one support material. I have a Cube 3 and the different’s between Cube3 and CubePro isn’t so many. 1: CubePro has a high cost market. 2: Has expensive catridges (but in ratio with a good quality 1kg fillament, the price hasn’t big different). 3: CubePro has closed software, it mean that you can’t use another software like Slicer, Repetier, maybe the Simplify. 4: Good quality materials and construct. 5: Auto calibration 6: Plug and Play 7: Big champer printing 8: Closed champer printing. It mean that you can print big parts ABS with good result’s. Big advantage. 9: Good quality printing parts. 10: 3D Systems is a very big company. 11: Easy transport. 12: I don’t like the slicing software (Cubify). It poor for me. But if i like i can buy the Simplify. 13: I don’t like because i must use filament from 3D Systems and not from other supliers, maybe with better prices. 14: My advice, if you will buy a CubePro, you buy together a cheap Prusa I3 with 300 euro for printing the samples first on Prusa (because has cheaper catrigdes) and the final sample printing in CubePro. 15: There are others 3D printers with 3 heads printing, that produce good printing product and cost cheaper from a CubePro and they can use cheaper catrigdes of filament. But if you use ABS i believe that a CubePro is better. Believe that i help you little. Your choice…
