Hello,
I have purchased a Dual Extruder CTC printer… I have been printing good prints for months now.
I currently use Simplify3D Software. I also added an active cooling fan on extruder… My prints turn out very well… Question to all… Is it worth it to upgrade to the latest Sailfish Firmware…?
What benefits will I see and what are the differences I will see…?
Is there another firmware that works…? Again… What benefits will I see…?
I ask this as I see issues with upgrades… Thoughts…?

There is every reason to upgrade to sailfish and no reason not to that I can think of.
pause at predetermined z position
change speed mid print
change temp mid print
and few more.
I have replaced my original CTC mother board for one that has the chip for the cooling fan. I came with the latest firmware. It does have a lot of new features and it just prints better. But now I can’t use simplify3D. Something with x,y home. Not sure what it is. Simplify told me to flash the firmware. I haven’t been able to do it yet.
Where did you get the replacement?
If you’re happy you can keep it.
Benefits:
Sailfish should improve print quality and print speed due to the added acceleration in the firmware which decreases shaking in the print and does allow higher print speeds due to accelerated movements.
IMHO, if you’re prints are great - what’s the problem you’re fixing? I upgraded one of my CTC boards and somehow bricked the board. I did another board and it worked and I get no useful benefits.
My printer came with firmware 7.4 and I appear to already have all those features
I can set Simplify3D to change temp during the print, I can pause (hot and cold pause) through the printer’s menu
Not sure if I can change the speed; I can set a different speed for the first layer in Simplify3D
And there is an acceleration option in the printer’s menu that is on (not sure if it’s actually working)
What am I missing?
