Hello,
I re-wired my CTC to have all cables avoid the LCD and SD card area. Previously I had failures 4 hours and 8 hours in on separate, non-consecutive prints (total print time for job is 12 hours). I’m assuming fails are EMI/RFI related.
- Since my CTC came with a metal body, there are magnets (I think they’re magnets?) on the stepper motor cables and control board power supply cables. With the new wiring, all these magnets are concentrated in one corner next to or even touching each other. Will the proximity of these magnets to each other cause any issues?
- X- and Y-stepper motor wires and X-limit switch wire enter from same opening in frame. Should be fine?
- The x-stepper motors and x-limit switch wires are wrapped around each as shown. This should be OK, correct?
I’m trying to avoid as many EMI/RFI related failed prints as possible.

You’re doing too much bro. If your electronics are failing you need to take that thing back. I have never heard of this being an issue. Or just wrap the whole thing in aluminum foil and make an aluminum hat too for yourself. That is what they’re made for by the way; emi.

The magnets are inductors I believe to reduce interference I think I’m not an expert but I’m sure I recognise them from other electronics work

Yeah that sounds like what I was thinking of
Ferrite nucleus, that’s all. They are, as stated by other, something to reduce EM interference
