Hello All,
I hope you might be able to help :). I recently purchased a CTC 3d printer from eBay and the first print was not so great so i followed a video on youtube to update firmware to sailfish.
The problem is, since then i just cant get anything to seem to print. When it starts up it does a test line perfect and then when it goes to print the object it either has very small amount of filament come out or none at all? It’s not blocked as i’ve checked this and the test line works great.
Is there something i might be missing?
Thanks
I also have a CTC and went through a lot of struggles. A lot of people will say they aren’t worth the money but they do a nice job once calibrated.
What slicer are you using? Is the printer making any clicking noises? When you load the filament does the stream come straight down or does it wrap around the nozzle?
Thanks for the quick reply. I installed the sailfish firmware using replicatorg and have been trying to test print by using the makerbot software and exporting the model to sd card.
I’ve not heard any clicking noises and it does appear to do a test line ok, but now you say it, sometimes (when trying to print a model) it does look like it might be wrapping around the nozzle.
A photo of what it’s doing would be quite helpful. Without that, the advice people can give you is just guesswork.
I recommend that you keep on printing the 20mm calibration cube model that comes as a sample with replicatorg as a starting point. You’ll learn from that.
Hi
Not sure if this will help but when I had the same issue I got a household fan and blew it across the print bed whilst printing. This solved my issue. I print PLA at 190 no raff using paper sign transfer tape as the bed surface.

Martin
Thanks for your help, what extruder would you advise? On eBay I can see mk8, mk9 etc?
