carbon fibre chemical in New Zealand?

Is there a hub in Auckland that has carbon fibre chemical,

or know of a supplier in NZ so I can print out a product?

Hi Ewen,

I don’t know of any such chemical however you can get a PLA filament that has a percentage of carbon fibres in it, depending on what you want to print and what purpose it will be used for this may be an option for you, please remember though that this material is in no way a substitute for real carbon fibre. If you require a high strength part you would be better to use Nylon 910, it is very strong and rigid however very complex parts are difficult to print in this material.

Ahh, although achievable in the fact that it can be printed you certainly wouldn’t choose 3D printing for this application. There are a multitude of reasons why these are cast in Alloy or Steel. I’m sure you wouldn’t be interested in paying 10k plus for a lawnmower body either.

3D printing is awesome but if you can already buy it off the shelf in most cases your better off doing so.

Are you aware that Carbon Fiber is a woven product that is coated in a resin to harden it? You would need a mold, then to apply the resin, then apply the Carbon Fiber sheets and apply more resin behind it followed by rollers to get all the air bubbles out. I know where you can get the Carbon Fiber sheets,
