I have a Wanhao I3 Printer. I Installed a glass bed with PEI, my first couple prints went like a dream, Then for the last 5 attempts I cant get it to Print anything. The first 3 attempts started printing into thin air about when they were 3/4 done. The last couple however start printing too high on the second layer. I cant get the back Right corner to level with the rest of them. I tried adjusting the y-axis rods etc… to no avail. It’s not the glass bed. I had 2 really good prints with it on. Im at my wits end I hope someone can help.

Sounds like you may have a clog or partial clog. As for leveling the bed, have you tried going completely back to all springs compressed and then leveling? Also, level the bed while it’s warm (60°C) as it does tend to warp as it warms up.

I thought of that and today I purchased some cleaning Filament from Amazon so Hopefully that does the trick

Hey!

I also have the wanhao i3.

id go back to basics if it were me.

Id check the level of the Extruder axis first and realign my bed.

Did you put the limit switch up a notch?

I personally use prit stick or glue stick whatever you want to call it. Swear by it. Everything has stuck to it without fail. As long as the bed is level there will be no probs.

Let me know if you still have probs after checking all that.

might be a good idea to shoot your nozzle up to 250 and pump a load of filament through it and watch to see if it’s coming out straight etc.

Hello,

Usually when the printer starts printing in mid air like that it is due to the SD card. Wanhao sent a low quality SD card which is well known in the Wanhao community for those issues. Try replacing the SD card. If you are using CURA, the latest version is conflicting a bit with the Duplicator. Just in case you upgraded your Cura version.

Was just thinking, you mentioned that 3 attempts started printing in mid air when they were all 3/4 done.

Check, I believe someone has already mentioned it. But you may have a partial clog. and Your temperature is off. The print gets to a point where the printer thinks it is feeding filament when in fact it could be a partial clog that may or may not clear on its own. This could be your temperature… What are you printing with? Also on your last inquiries you asked about raising the end stop for a glass bed, Did you do so. Wanhao has pre drilled holes for the end stop if you go with glass. This in fact will help you will your bed alignment thus improving your adhesion.

Once I installed the glass bed and PEI adhesion is no longer a problem. Yes I raised the end stop. It used to be way too close to the bed after I installed the glass now its too high only on the back right corner I can get every other corner level. I level with the bed heated as thats what I was told to do. I am Printing with PLA.

It deosnt stop in mid air it continues to go just filament comes out erratic or not at all. I am using usb so not an SD card Problem.

1) disassemble the printbed and check the lower support part it can be bent - thats why one of the corners is lower
2) check Z motors illigment
