Bed still too high.

Hi all,

I’m a total noob and just purchased my first 3d printer the Wanhao Duplicator i3, and while trying to level the bed I’m seeing that the nozzle is still making contact with the bed even when I lowered it to it’s lowest point.

Any tips on what else I could do to resolve this issue?

You can move end switch for z-axe to heigher holes.

Two possibilities:
If you are using glass on the bed, you have to move the Z endstop switch up. The later models have a second hole that makes this very easy - just unscrew it, move it up, and replace the screws.

Assuming your endstop is set up correctly, this can also happen if the extruder bracket gets bent down. Just grab the whole extruder assembly and the X bearing holders with one hand and gently squeeze them together to slightly bend the L-shaped bracket that holds it all together. It shouldn’t take much force and it might not even feel like you are doing anything, but it can make a difference.

It’s ridiculous that this isn’t included in the actual instructions given out with the machine.

On the left hand side (face the machine) at the bottom on the z-axis, there’s a bit of black tape covering up the endstop. Unscrew this and just move it up one place.

Have you checked the metal spring on the z axis micro switch. Mine had fallen off during delivery. This made the extruder home around 10mm lower. Meaning no room for bed levelling. Once corrected I have lots of room for levelling.
