anet a8 x axis problem

I’m in the process of setting up my new A8 printer and trying to figure out the x axis home problem I encountered. On the display screen I went to position and told it to home x axis. It goes to the right and slams against the drive carriage mount and keeps buzzing till I pull the power plug to the printer. Limit switch is in the opposite direction. Someone said to reverse the plug wires on the x motor. While that would seem to be a logical fix, it doesn’t quite solve the problem. Running pronterface to control the printer does the same thing while trying to home the x axis. If I move the extruder to the left, it hits the limit switch and still tries to keep going, buzzing until I pull the power plug on the power supply. I tested the limit switch also, and it is working correctly.

Is this a bad board issue? It seems like it to me… My Z and Y axis movements to home them are perfect. Response to any movements to the Y and Z axis is always correct.

Does anyone know if I should try a new mother board for the A8?

Sure sounds like the cpu programming might be an issue on the board…

There are some gcode commands to check this functionality.
Make sure the end stop switch is working all the way to the software first.

I am almost certain that has something to do with x-endstop sensor. Before doing home, you should check the sensor by using M119 gcode. If you trigger the sensor manually, the M119 should report back as triggered.

I have just built an A8 printer and home all sends X axis left, not right to the limit switch.
If I press the X axis limit switch , it stops the X motor and the Z and Y axis home ok.
The X axis motor works ok but wrong direction.

X limited switch should be on the left, not right. The y motor should be in the back

The X limit definitely fits to the right motor support, there’s 2 holes for the screws and the wires are too short to run to the left side even if there were mounting holes…which there aren’t.
I got in touch with the supplier, have to wait.

X motor should be on the left along with the limit switch. Can you switch the brackets?

I have it homeing all now by swapping x motot connection. Now to software level the bed and test print.

That is interesting. The x motor is on the left in original Anet A8. It really does not matter, as long as you get it to work. If you swap the pin 1-2 or 3-4 of the motor connector, it will also reverse the motor rotation.

I cut the wires to x motor and soldered them so it had the same effect as plugging the connector in the other way around…which you can’t as it’s keyed.
It’s printing a model ok.
this is a serious problem.

Check that the x motor is not installed backwards. Easy to do and makes everything run backwards.

The x motor only goes in one way on this newer design…or it’s drive would be enclosed.
It’s a probem. My solution A8 upgraded I3 reprap x axis inverted wrong direction. - YouTube
