What the heck is up with the hundreds of Chinese looking posts? It’s making the forum unusable!

I thought this may have just been a problem on my end. Glad to see its not just me.

Hey, It’s just random people or bots who are spamming the site. It makes it hard to help others when you can’t see there posts in the mix of hundreds of spammed messages. I think the site tried to fix the spam problems in the past, but it’s still not resolved.
Its difficult to stop as new accounts can just be set up if they’re banned/ blocked.
Its a real pain for everyone!

The problem started a few months ago,
the spammers probably created hundreds, if not thousands accounts, then start spamming the shit out of it,
The guys behind 3D Hubs told be they don’t think it’s a big of a deal ?!:(, and they didn’t want to tighten the security with the sign up process.
and they don’t seem to check the board in the weekends, so they can spam all they want until Monday
Unless they ban all IP’s from that country, this will go on for months.

Putting a CAPTCHA for starting a new thread is really necessary.

Hey guys, a lot of spam threads have been getting through onto Talk over the past week. Our developers are currently working on a solution and we will have it sorted out soon!

Hey @Xeno , we take the spam posts very seriously at 3D Hubs. We’re doing our best to moderate over the weekends and we’re currently working on a solution.

I see from the 17 pages of spam this morning that you are really doing all you can
and they started spamming “only” 5 hours ago, so you still have plenty of time to drink your coffee and hit that delete button.
and while you are at it put “wip1004 at hotmail.com ” and “ID:top2300” on the spam list, it could help
these were the main subject for the last few weeks.
And this is what Brian told me 4 months ago:

Agree, we’re going to step up our anti spam measurements.

I second a CAPTCHA! Even if it’s just Google’s one (the one with a checkbox saying “I’m not a robot”) that would definitely help.
