3D printing event themes? What would you like to do?

Hi guys,

Currently, @Simona and me are talking with many very interesting partners to co-organise themed 3D printing events.

You can think of many different themes, from education to tweaking printers, and drones to Arduino applications. I was wondering if you guys had any cool ideas of who we should work with or what kind of events would work for the 3D Hubs communities.

We’re really aiming to make these events worth the visit, so basically sky’s the limit!

Next week we are having here (Belo Horizonte/Brazil) another event. A meetup with 3D Printing owners of the community. The “future themed” events is already a topic of the day. =)

Hi all,

in Breda we schedule monthly meetups. Every month it’s hosted at the FabLab, the other month we try to vosit a community member to see and hear what he/she/they are doing. These visits include schools, small and big companies and artists working with 3d printers. During the meetups at the FabLab we tru to cover a subject or invote a speaker.

On my whishlist Filemon: visits to Materialise and Shapeways, filament test nights sponsored by filament suppliers (check out instructables nuild night) and during code week in october i would love to organize a ‘write your own cura plugin’ night with a python expert. Maybe a presentation from Fairphone, Ultimaker staff and 3dhubs people?

That’s what i can think of right now.

Hi All,

I’m planing a event called “Beyond ABS and PLA” the idea is to gather the community and talk about the Alternative filaments coming into the market, I’m trying to make a couple examples as a show case.

I hope that the community gets involved and share tips and tricks that each has learned.

Other ideas, workshops on 3D modeling, printer tunning…

What about Quirky.com in NY? I have a love/hate relationship with them but they are such a great and fast growing company. A while ago I Skyped with one of the invention ambassadors and he mentioned 3DHubs! They met Shapeways the 19th.

Hi guys,

I would need your advice on this: what do you think about a theme that leads to debates more than an informing theme ? I was thinking about ‘intellectual property rights in 3D Printing’ for example, which is discussed sometimes in the media and that I always wonder about. 3D Printing is the perfect illustration of how grey this area is.

I think it would lead 1) to great PR 2) to a larger target 3) to something Hubs, experts, might really relate to.

Hello everyone! We just had an event last thursday. The topic people most voted was “Pricing 3D Printing - What is fair? How much people are willing to pay for the services?”. So out next meetup for the 3D Printing community in our city is set. For the general public we want to exhibit samples of what can be done. Notice, we are not even close to what 3D Printing already is in Europe or the USA.
