Is there anyone in the UK or London specifically who is able to create a 3D face mask from a photograph of a deceased person?

I had seen a video before of some software that looked very good. Went looking for it, and I’m not sure if this is the same , but maybe it would help. You probably need multiple photos to get the proportions right, or someone who knows the person well…and probably some good spacial awareness to start with

Do you have just one photo or many photos from different angles? There is some photo modelling software around but one photo may not be enough.

Hi,

Most photo-capture-based scanning uses multiple photos and builds a 3D mesh from them using either Agisoft photoscan or Autodesk Recap. You can get a 30 day trial for the latter here:

However, building the rough mesh is only the first part of the process, more work is then required from a skilled VFX artist to make it smooth, realistic and help ‘perfect’ the mesh and texture (colour etc). With very few photos to work with this part becomes especially important and will be time-consuming and the skills required are quite specialist…

Hey James,

As the guys have pointed out. You’ll need a number of photos to produce a satisfactory and recognisable mask. The more photos, the more accurate the digital representation. If you have access to the subject, you could scan their face, which can produce a very accurate representation. I’ve used my Occipital Structure Sensor to produce scans for masks of living people. Maybe that would be suitable to your needs?
